Assassin’s Creed Shadows Officially Revealed, Launches In November

Ubisoft has officially unveiled Assassin’s Creed Shadowsthe latest game in the long running Assassin’s Creed series, and it’s got a release date already as well.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on November 15th and will follow the stories of shinobi Assassin Naoe and African samurai Yasuke, the latter of whom is Assassin’s Creed‘s first real-life protagonist.

The game will take place in the Azuchi-Momoyama era of Japanese history (that’s the late 16th to very early 17th century) and will dovetail the stories of the two characters as they “usher in a new era for Japan”, according to Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will have two playable characters.

Unlike in Assassin’s Creed Odysseyin which you chose between two playable characters, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s gender switch, it doesn’t sound like you’ll be choosing between Naoe and Yasuke in Shadows.

Rather, it sounds like both of their stories will be critical to the narrative, so you’ll be playing as both of them in turn, not dissimilarly to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate‘s playable twins.

You can check out the cinematic announcement trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows right here. It sets up Naoe and Yasuke’s stories and gives a hint as to how they’ll interact over the course of the story.

Along with the cinematic premiere, Ubisoft has also released a deep dive video into the characters of Naoe and Yasuke.

It features interviews with game director Charles Benoit, who’s previously worked as a designer on games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Immortals Fenyx Risingand associate narrative director Brooke Davies.

You can check that video out here if you want to know more about what Ubisoft has in store for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the latest game in the Assassin’s Creed series. It’s expected to return to the open-world RPG stylings of Odyssey and Valhalla after the back-to-basics experiment of Mirage.

The game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on November 15th. Stay tuned for more.
